What is The Congress Action Festival?
“bringing the Congress to the young people as well as bringing young people to the Congress"
This, the 4th in the series of World Youth Congress, will be unique in that we shall endeavor to ‘bring the Congress to the young people as well as bringing young people to the Congress.’ Young people around the world, especially in the world’s least-developed countries, are invited to propose innovative youth-led development projects in their communities in the months leading up to the Congress.
The best of these projects will be funded from a central funding pool and funds raised locally and overseas by schools, colleges and other groups. The Congress website will enable all projects to be displayed, and progress reports to be mounted in a way that allows all of them to be featured as part of the core congress activity.
All featured projects will be invited to send a representative to the Congress – but we are aware that finance, and visa restrictions, will prohibit many from attending. So we shall be sending Congress Certificates and flags to all featured project teams, and we shall invite them to participate in the “Virtual Congress” – via webcams, live chats, blogs, discussion forums, podcasts, and videos.
