Canadian Commission for UNESCO

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO operates under the aegis of the Canada Council for the Arts. Its role is to act as a forum for governments and civil society, and to catalyze the participation of Canadian organizations and committed individuals in UNESCO’s mandated areas: education, natural and social sciences, culture, and communication and information. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is the only member of the United Nations System to have National Commissions performing this role in each of its Member States.

 

FEUQ

The Quebec Federation of University Students (FEUQ) is made up of 15 member associations and more 120 000 student members. Created following the lifting of the tuition fee freeze in Québec in 1989, the FEUQ's main mission is to defend the rights and interests of students with governments, education stakeholders and civil society actors.

Since 1970, CLUB 2/3’s vision has allowed thousands of young people, from Quebec and elsewhere, to discover the scope of international cooperation and its role in the creation of a world based on solidarity and social justice. CLUB 2/3 now shares this vision with Oxfam-Quebec, whose projects, in Quebec and elsewhere, benefit from the invigorating contribution of youth.

Laval University

First French University of America, Laval University hosts each year around 38 000 students, with close to 3 900 international students. More than 400 undergraduate and graduate programs are offered. Laval University is one of the 10 biggest research universities in Canada, with an annual budget over 250 million dollars in research. Resolutely opened to the world, it holds over 500 agreements with institutions in over 60 countries, allowing it to offer many mobility programs and intercultural internships to its students.

Finally, its dynamic environment, its personalized study profiles as well as work related internships and the valued financial support granted to its student make it a very interesting place to study.

New World Institute (Institut du Nouveau Monde)

The NWI gathers reliable, contextual, up-to-date information on the Province of Quebec and makes this information available, in a clear language, to the public, particularly through the Annuaire du Québec publication, at Éditions Fides.

NWI seeks to develop indicators to measure the economic and social development of the Province of Quebec in comparison to the rest of the world. NWI takes advantage of information technology to encourage public debates and reach citizens from all regions of the Province of Quebec.

The Quebec region Youth Forum

An organization for development and dialogue in the Quebec region, the Youth Forum brings together 25 young people from many social backgrounds and all parts of the Quebec region. The Forum manages the Quebec Regional Youth Investment Fund that supports youth initiatives..

 

Youth Secretariat (secretariat à la jeunesse)

The Quebec Youth Secretariat (SAJ) carries primary responsibility for the Quebec government’s Youth Action Strategy. Reporting directly to the Prime minister, it coordinates the entire government’s youth activities locally in Quebec, and also overseas. In collaboration with other ministries, it also introduces measures and programs that support the participation of young people.

AEISEC

AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of intitutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, creed, religion, national ethnic or social origin.


 

Wapikoni Mobile

 

Wapikoni Mobile is a one-of-its-kind film training project. In association with the National Film Board of Canada, the Assembly of First Nations in Quebec and Labrador, several partners on the ground and many financial partners at all government levels, it has achieved much since its founding in 2004. The Wapikoni Mobile gives young Aboriginals the opportunity to express themselves using video and music. Apart from nurturing new talent, it encourages discussion among young people, giving them a chance to get to know each other, see different sides of life and have an influence within and beyond their community.

 


 

Plan Canada

Plan is an international, humanitarian, child-centred development organization without religious, political or governmental affiliations. Plan strives to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of children in developing countries though a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and value to their lives. Plan works in enabling deprived children, their ability to participate in and benifit from their societies, by building relationships to increase understanding and unity among people of different cultures and countries ans promoting the rights and interests of the world's children


 

Plan Nagua

Plan Nagua is a non-profit organization focused on international cooperation. Its mission is to raise the understanding of issues linked to sustainable development and to establish fair north-south relations.

Since 1969, Plan Nagua actively helps to implement projects initiated and managed by communities in the South. In Quebec it helps make people aware of the issues facing developing countries.
